Research the Organisation

 

Before your interview read about the organisation, history, values, mission statement, projects and what they do.

 

Understand A Job Description

 

Read the job advertisement, check to see if the position description matches to your technical and soft skills.


Rehearse STAR Model

 

A lot of companies and organisations use the Situation, Task, Action and Result (STAR) model to interview potential applicants.

 

Know Your Salary Expectation

 

Research industry salary for your level of experience and if this is aligned with your salary expectations and the duties involved.

 

Dress To Impress

 

Wear clothing that suits your employer, if they wear casual don’t wear a suit.

 

Rehearse In Front of the Mirror

 

Practice introducing yourself to the hiring manager, people and culture representative.

 

Be Succinct and Relevant

 

When you respond to interview questions, summarise in a STAR response and relevant to the question.

 

Prepare Questions to Ask Hiring Panel

 

Ask the interviewer questions when you’ll receive an email if you’ll progress into the next stage; about the company culture; maternity leave, bonuses and incentive programs.
